My yoga practice began in the illustrious studio of my apartment living room. I practiced along with a power yoga DVD for 6 months before ever taking a public class. I was working in an office in Florida and my flexibility was so non existent that I was too embarrassed to practice yoga with strangers. Despite my lack of flexibility and interactive guidance I kept up the practice and it began to heal my office damaged posture while calming my mind and increasing my energy levels. During this time period a gained clarity and decided to make some major changes. Within 6 months I quit smoking, eating meat, drinking heavily, and my job. This began an intensive period of study in yoga and martial arts that lasted about 1 year and spanned from Florida to New Jersey to Austin. Shortly after landing here I moved into a house with 6 other yogi's. We would practice together almost every morning, taking turns leading, and often spontaneously throughout the day. This is when I learned how to work with deeper and deeper aspects of myself through regular group practice and communal living. Leading yoga practices is always such a heart opening, unique experience that teaches me about myself and this ever evolving co-creational practice. I come to every class, leading or following, with the intention to learn, sweat and laugh.
